Hey there friends, we're excited to tell you that our first pop-up in August will be held in the bar area* of Wharf Chambers on Thursday the 17th of August from 6pm to 9pm. Keep an eye out for me, Bridie (They'll be wearing a lanyard because they're cool like that), and the 15-Minute Friendships table-top sign!
Please note that Wharf Chambers is a members' club and you must be a member or guest of a member to attend. Joining costs £2 and you can become a member here.
If you are thinking of coming along to the pop-up and do not wish to become a Wharf Chambers member, please get in touch with me beforehand, as I am a member and can bring up to 3 guests. You can contact me on 15minfriendships@gmail.com.
Drop-In Style Pop-Up
We're trying out a couple of different formats for 15-Minute Friendships to get a feel for what works best. At the moment, this is trending towards drop-ins, as we've yet to receive any bookings at events where pre-booked sessions were on offer.
Because of this, our pop-up at Wharf Chambers will primarily be for drop ins. If you want to come along but wouldn't feel comfortable doing so unless you could guarantee a session, please email me in advanced and let me know, and I will make sure I am free during the pop-up at a time that works for you.
About Wharf Chambers
Wharf Chambers is a bar and multi-use venue in the centre of Leeds run by a workers’ co-op in partnership with a members’ club. They aim to provide an inclusive and affordable space for music, art, film, politics, and discussion that brings together people from communities across Leeds.
Wharf Chambers is committed to providing as safe and accessible a space as possible and has a Safer Spaces agreement with more information. You must adhere to Wharf's Safer Spaces agreement at all times while within the venue. The co-op also strives to work within a collectively agreed ethos, which is outlined in their Values statement.
Accessibility: The venue has two entrances – the front door, which is up steps from the street, and a ramped, wheelchair accessible back door, accessed via the alleyway to the left of the front door. The toilets are gender neutral. There is a urinal and 3 cubicles, one of which is wheelchair accessible. The door to the accessible toilet is 87cm wide at its narrowest point and opens outward. For more detailed accessibility information, please see the venue page on Euan's Guide!
*15-Minute Friendships is committed to hosting events in as many low-no alcohol spaces as possible, but there will occasionally be times where this is not always possible.
While we are running this session in the Wharf Chambers bar area, we have asked to do so during an off-peak time to ensure a quieter/more relaxed environment. If you're worried about the space becoming busy or noisy, we would encourage you to arrive closer to the pop-up's starting time, as Wharf tends to become busier later on in the evening.
